Heirloom Tomato Seminar

A black tomato?
Striped?
|
The original tomato was found in South America, was tiny, orange, and hairy, and was considered poisonous for hundreds of years! But the flavor was outstanding! And that's what characterizes heirloom tomatoes today - beautiful beyond belief, surprising shapes, and fabulous flavors. We are proud to carry on the tradition of growing out these original varieties here on the farm, and have made it our mission to share the joy with others. |
We offer groups of 10 or more an opportunity to come and explore the wonders of heirloom tomatoes.
| Date: | Mid-August through Mid-September |
| Time: | at your convenience |
| Fee: | $15.00 per person |
Advanced reservations are required, plan for about 2 hours.
We will begin with a trip through the vegetable garden to meet the plants,
learn about their individual histories, harvest some of each variety,
and bring them back to the picnic table area for discussion, exploration,
and sampling. Refreshments will be served - Lemon Lime Maple Cooler,
slices of Maple Cheesecake and Apple Maple Cream Tart - and each
participant will receive a free Heirloom Tomato Recipe Booklet and
a coupon for a free (your choice) Heirloom Tomato Plant at next year's
Heirloom Tomato Plant Sale at the end of May.
